this is a song fic to Blaine Larsen - How Do You Get That Lonely
How Do You Get That Lonely? By punk_of_a_tomboy
Bam Margera opened the bathroom door. The scene that unfolded before him brought him to his knees. His eyes went
wide with terror seeing the body of his younger sister slumped over the bathtub.
Her dark eyes were void the last trace of pain still lingering, set deep in her ashened skin. He reached out his fingers
brushing back her black hair. His eyes worked down landing on the bloody slits on her wrists. He choked out tears.
It was just another story written on the second page Underneath the Tiger's football score It said he was only
eighteen, a boy about my age They found him face down on the bedroom floor There'll be services on Friday at the Lawrence
Funeral Home Then out on Mooresville highway, they'll lay him 'neath a stone...
Bam sat in the passenger seat of the hummer watching the road go by. The radio was on, "Breaking the habit" by Linken
Park stated to play, but Bam couldn't listen to it. His little sister's favorite song beat too painfully in his ears. Tears
stung his eyes.
Jess looked over at his little brother, then back at the road. He turned the radio off. Then reached over
and patted Bam's shoulder lightly, trying to comfort her the broken skater.
How do you get that lonely, how do you hurt that bad To make you make the call, that havin' no life
at all Is better than the life that you had How do you feel so empty, you want to let it all go How do you get that
lonely... and nobody know
Bam got out and wiped his eyes. Jess came over to him and put an arm around his shoulders. Together the two brothers
walked up to the graveyard. Bam broke into silent sobs at the sight of the headstone. Jess, red eyed, pulled his brother to
him, letting Bam cry on his shoulder.
Jess himself was ready to break down, but he couldn't, he had to be strong for Bam. So he rubbed Bam's back
and let him cry, keeping his own tears to himself.
Did his girlfriend break up with him, did he buy or steal that
gun? Did he lose a fight with drugs or alcohol? Did his Mom and Daddy forget to say I love you son? Did no one see
the writing on the wall? I'm not blamin' anybody, we all do the best we can I know hindsight's 20/20, but I still don't
understand...
"What the fuck happened? What the fuck did we do to her?" Bam asked between sobs. Jess just shook his head.
He couldn't answer the same question he had himself. Both brothers knew the one person who could had just been landed
under the ground. Jess looked over at his parents. Phil was trying to comfort her Ape the best he could. But there is no comfort
her for a mother who just lost her child to suicide.
And Ape had lost her only daughter. Her black haired brown eyed tomboy skater of a daughter. That left a gaping hole
in her heart, in all their hearts.
How do you get that lonely, how do you hurt that bad To make you make the call, that havin' no life at all Is
better than the life that you had How do you feel so empty, you want to let it all go How do you get that lonely...
and nobody know
Jess couldn't take it anymore. The pain was too much, even for him. His sobs mixed with Bam's.
"We failed her." Jess chocked out.
He realized that they did know the answer to their question.
"She was our baby sister and we didn't see her pain, we weren't there when she needed us most."
Bam shook his head, Jess was right they had failed her. Bam, overcome with grief, went over the past year in his mind.
The more he thought about it the more he realized how obvious his sister's depression had been.
She drank more, she couldn't get new tricks right, and she was either too quiet or too angry.
"I'm such a jackass." He thought.
" I can't believe I didn't see it."
It was just another story printed on the second page Underneath the Tiger's football score...
Jess and Bam started to walk away. But both glanced back at the same time for one last look.
